Insurance pricing.
Insurance is usually paid through the carrier when a product is placed, not through a separate Koala invoice. This page explains the carriers we work with and how compensation works.
How we are paid.
Compensation varies by product and carrier. We explain it before you submit an application.
We look at the policies you have and the coverage the plan actually calls for.
There is no separate fee for a standard coverage review.
The licensed insurance producer may receive a commission from the carrier.
The product, the cost, and the compensation are explained before you apply. You can decline.
No separate insurance invoice for standard reviews
For standard insurance reviews, Koala generally does not bill a separate insurance fee. If a separate consulting fee ever applies, it would be agreed to before work begins.
Carriers may pay us if a product is placed
If a policy or annuity is placed, the carrier may pay the licensed producer a commission or other compensation. This creates an incentive to recommend products that pay compensation. You may buy recommended products through an unaffiliated agent.
Product charges vary
Product charges, surrender schedules, guarantees, riders, and contract terms depend on the product. Those details are reviewed before anything is placed.
Need the formal consumer disclosures?
The Insurance Disclosures page keeps the entity, licensing, compensation, privacy, and consumer disclosure information in one place.
Review your coverage before making changes.
Insurance Entity
Insurance is offered through individually licensed California producers, including Bobbi Koala (CA Insurance License #0728219). Koala Insurance Solutions, LLC's agency license is in process. Insurance services are separate from investment advisory and legal services.
Product Fit
We do not think everyone needs insurance. We look at each client or family's situation and only discuss insurance when there appears to be a real fit.
Compensation
Commissions vary by carrier and product and create a conflict of interest. Clients are not required to buy insurance through Koala. Advisory fees are not reduced to offset insurance commissions.
Carriers we currently work with.
The right carrier depends on product type, underwriting, pricing, guarantees, and fit for the client. These are core insurance carriers Koala works with. This is not a complete list of carriers or products, and not every carrier or product is available or appropriate for every client.
